Easter morning always brings excitement to little children: baskets full of goodies, new clothes, and an egg hunt. But for the Christian, we’re excited for a different reason. We know that Resurrection Sunday means to our salvation and Who the “reasons or the season” is.
The story of our Lords Resurrection is like no other. In John 19, we are told of Jesus’ death on the cross and how many wept and mourned over Him-as He saves us from our sins. Then in Luke 24:6 we’re told of the angels that He had “risen!” On the third day “according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:4) And for centuries since, this lasting impact has reverberated: He Lives! The Son of man defeated death and now reigns at the right hand of the Father (Acts 7:55-56)
There are many emotions to be felt on Resurrection Sunday: sorrowful news, gratefulness, happiness. But, most of all, victory should be at the forefront of the believer’s mind. For it is His victory over the gave that we celebrated! Without His shed blood, we would have no hope or reason for living. It is by Hs death-and resurrection-that we, too, live!
Proclaim “Hallelujah!” Today, for the Lord has victoriously risen! He has risen indeed!
